SIL 2010 in Barcelona: Process optimization via voice a big issue in the logistics sector

Despite the tense economic situation this year’s SIL in Barcelona closed once again with record-breaking figures. And at the leading Logistics and Material Handling Exhibition for the Spanish-speaking market, topsystem also registered an increased demand in soft- and hardware solutions for process optimization. Here the focus was on the voice suite topSPEECH-Lydia^®. Whether it is in the intra-logistics sector or production, speech guidance for the co-workers via voice dialogue offers a high potential for improving work ergonomics. With the help of “Lydia“, their virtual colleague, the workers can concentrate on their individual hand movements, and there are no distractions due to other activities, such as handling a scanner or a pick list. This makes for a definite increase in efficiency and quality.

VOXter^® BlackEdition and NoiseMaster for refrigeration environments

The exhibition visitors also showed great interest in topsystem’s latest hardware components. The VOXter^® BlackEdition, launched in 2010, is a robust mobile voice computer that is ergonomically ideal for warehouse work. In refrigeration environments the VOXter^® is supplemented by the new generation headset, NoiseMaster. Temperatures below –20 °C often cause problems for many hardware components but even here VOXter^® and NoiseMaster can be relied upon. Under extreme temperatures the NoiseMaster, in particular, can provide a real performance boost to voice applications. The headset is not only optimized for particularly noisy environments, but its robust casing means that it can easily cope with the demands of refrigerated environments.
