HAZET relies on Lydia® Voice Suite

When it comes to order picking in their new logistics center HAZET-WERK Hermann Zerver GmbH & Co. KG, a major manufacturer of trade tools and workshop equipment, rely on Lydia® Voice Suite by topsystem.

A key benefit of the Pick by Voice technology is that with the Lydia® Connector for SAP the Lydia® Voice Suite can be directly connected to the new SAP warehouse management system without any middleware. This way, HAZET has access to their stocks in real time and the order picking is clearly more efficient.

HAZET has a range of more than 5,500 various tools to offer their customers. Every day some 500 employees are on the job in their three production locations in Remscheid and one in Heinsberg. To ensure that they will meet the logistical challenges in the future, the family-run business has set up a new logistics center. HAZET delivers to more than 100 countries from their center in Heinsberg. Every day more than 40,000 various items with a total weight of approx. 20 t leave the warehouse.

A key requirement for the technical facilities of the new building was that the commissioning of the Lydia® Voice Suite be carried out simultaneously with the new warehouse management system SAP EWM. The rapid implementation of this project was made possible by the Lydia® Connector for SAP as a component of the Lydia® Voice Suite: “Our solution is directly integrated into SAP without any middleware and works 100% online with the warehouse management,” explained Torsten Isenhardt, Project Manager at topsystem. The advantage here is that the logic of the voice dialogue is still in the SAP system, while the Lydia® Connector translates the picking process into a voice dialogue for the employees.

The orders can be processed item for item without the entire order having to be transmitted to the Voice Client. If a Voice picker reports a bottleneck at one point in the warehouse, the Voice-System Lydia® passes this information on to the SAP EWM. The system immediately calls for fresh supplies and directs the worker – if possible – to an alternative part of the warehouse so that the order can be completed without delay.

 Picking quality clearly improved

For the compilation of orders the HAZET employees use a picking trolley. The interaction between Lydia® and the 20 Voxter®-Elite voice systems in use make for efficient multi-order picking. As the warehouse management system is linked to the Lydia® Voice, photos of the articles are also shown parallel on a display on the trolley. This visual back-up ensures additional picking precision and clearly increases the process reliability.
