To be able to ship quickly and cost-efficiently several thousand packages per month to an international customer base the expert for energetic solutions has decided to replace the former paper-based picking by an up-to-date paperless picking system.
GAH Alberts supplies their customers from commerce, trade and industry with all components that have to do with fence technology, as well as DIY. Maximum flexibility in logistics is specifically required for seasonal business. Due to the expanding gardening segment the family-owned company built a new logistics center last year with a size of 7,200 m². 800 different products are stored there which are in particular demand in the spring season.
At the same time GAH Alberts made the decision for the picking technology Pick by Voice: so now the pickers are guided through the warehouse via voice dialog with Lydia® Voice Suite. The Pick by Voice system is directly connected to the higher-level ERP system via Lydia® Connector for SAP. The logic of the voice dialog is completely linked with the SAP system which controls the allocation of orders.

All processes from the UK were recently adopted at the company’s new logistics centre in Gelnhausen, Germany, as well. At air cargo europe, an event hosted during the transport logistic trade fair in Munich from 9 to 12 May 2017, topsystem will present its new Electronic Cargo Handling & Operations System (ECHOS), a web-based system with a modular design that is always process-oriented. The IT solution reliably and efficiently covers all document-based and physical working procedures in the field of air cargo customs clearance – and it does so in a fully automated manner. Paper-based processes are thus a thing of the past.
In addition to fulfilling all important tasks related to imports and exports, ECHOS also comes with a host of additional modules and apps, for example dedicated to cargo movement and warehouse management. IT services provider Bechtle uses smart glasses for the order picking of small components at the logistics centre at its headquarters in Neckarsulm. Installed on the data glasses is the SAP AR Warehouse Picker mobile app, which Bechtle has become the first company worldwide to successfully use.
